After the success of their hugely enjoyable remake of the slasher classic My Bloody Valentine last year, it was perhaps inevitable that both director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer would return to 3D to explore its potential even further.

With Weinsteins having bombed and Halloween III 3D seemingly dead in the water, their latest project is the Nicolas Cage vehicle Drive Angry. Once again working with 3D, the movie is set to begin filming next month with a release date set for February 2011.

Bloody Disgusting have revealed two new actors who have joined Cage, both of whom coming from different backgrounds. The first is William Fichtner, previously known for his work on such varied films as Heat, Go, Pearl Harbor, Equilibrium and The Dark Knight, whilst the other is twenty-three year old Texan Amber Heard, whose breakthrough performance in All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was followed with Pineapple Express, The Stepfather and John Carpenter’s upcoming flick The Ward.

According to BD, the plot revolves around ‘a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.’

Drive Angry follows two projects for Lussier and Farmer that failed to get off the ground (I Saw What You Did, Halloween III), but this will mark their first original production together.
