Martin Scorcese’s been making movies now for over four decades and still shows no sign of letting up. Despite primarily being known for his critically acclaimed gangster movies (such as Mean Streets, Goodfellas and The Departed), his career has flirted with almost every conceivable genre: such as musicals (New York, New York), biopics (Raging Bull), period dramas (The Age of Innocence) and even horror (Cape Fear).

His latest effort, and his first feature in over three years, is Shutter Island, which will once again see him team up with his regular collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio, who seems to have replaced Robert De Niro as his actor of choice.

Their fourth project together (with the promise of more to come) sees DiCaprio co-star alongside such screen legends as Ben Kingsley and Max von Sydow. Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane and adapted for the screen by Alexander’s Laeta Kalogridis, early word on the movie from reviewers seems promising.
