NEWS - Benicio Del Toro Discusses his Role in The Wolfman  | read this item

As its February 12 release date draws closer (less than two weeks to go now), it seems that it is impossible to escape the buzz surrounding the big budget remake of Universal’s own classic The Wolfman, with Jurassic Park III director Joe Johnston adapting a script by Se7en’s Andrew Kevin Walker into a CGI-heavy gothic action thriller.

The movie stars The Usual Suspects‘ Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, who is bitten by a wolf and inherits the deadly curse. But how has he taken on the role that Lon Chaney made iconic back in 1941 and how have the filmmakers reinterpreted the tale for modern audiences?

The movie has been fraught with production issues, from the replacing of original director Mark Romanek to Rick Baker’s excellent makeup being ‘enhanced’ by digital effects. This guy did An American Werewolf in London and Michael Jackson’s Thriller, for crying out loud!

Del Toro discusses his role with Yahoo Movies and how it compares to Chaney’s performance. He also explains elements of the story, such as the relationship between Talbot and his father, portrayed by Anthony Hopkins.
