To say England is the home of Hammer, it very rarely delivers much in the way of horror these days. Whilst a few gems (28 Days Later, Dog Soldiers) occasionally sneak through, producers are usually too interested in Cockney gangster flicks or period dramas. Dom Rotheroe’s thriller Exhibit A has received minor acclaim for its effective atmosphere and was finally released on DVD last month. Winner of the Best UK Feature at the Raindance Film Festival and nominated for several British Independent Film Awards, the movie was described by JoBlo as ‘’The single most harrowing thing I’ve seen.’

According to the press release, Exhibit A ‘tells the timely story of a normal family disintegrating under financial pressure, eventually driven to the unimaginable. All is not as it seems as the King family go about their day-to-day lives oblivious of the horror to come. Dad Andy (Bradley Cole) is nursing a secret that ultimately leads to terrible consequences for them all. We witness these chilling events unfold through daughter Judith’s (Brittany Ashworth) video camera, which subsequently becomes Exhibit A.’

The movie is available as a collector’s edition from both the official site and Amazon.co.uk, courtesy of from Bigger Pictures. The DVD special features include a featurette, rehearsal footage and trailers.
