NEWS - Feisty New Cover Revealed for Latest Hack/Slash Comic Series  | read this item

Whilst the movie adaptation of Hack/Slash has been trapped in Development Hell for several years (with original director Todd Lincoln having walked from the project), the comic series on which it is based is still going strong. Having been responsible for countless tales, franchise crossovers and even a Suicide Girls shoot, original creator Tim Seeley’s latest offering will be Hack/Slash: My First Maniac.

Shock Till You Drop have announced that information on the four-part mini series was revealed earlier today at the Emerald City ComiCon. Whilst Seeley has nurtured the franchise for several years with Devil’s Due Publishing, the latest venture for slasher hunter Cassie Hack has taken up residence at Image Comics.

Seeley has commented on the move over to Image: ‘The move is sanctioned by Devil’s Due Publishing, and Josh Blaylock has been helping me with the transition. June will see the release of the first issue of Hack/Slash: My First Maniac, which is set in Cassie’s past and is the perfect tale for new readers as well as those who’ve been following the book for several years. And, best of all, my crack creative team of artist Dan Leister, colorist Mark Englert, editor Jim Lowder and letterer Crank! are coming with me to Image-Land.’

For those who are still Hack/Slash virgins, the series told of a feisty young woman called Cassie who, after witnessing the death of her mother – a notorious serial killer known as the Lunch Lady – embarks on a war against slasher villains, with the help of her hulking sidekick Vlad. The series has seen Cassie do battle against both Chucky from the Child’s Play series and Re-animator’s Herbert West. My First Maniac sees Seeley return to the origins of his character and her first adventure.

The mini series will be released by Image on June 9.
