But we’ve just received through the latest short film from Elftwin Films and it seems that he has been toying with the genre once again with his playful slasher homage Horror of Our Love: A Short Film. Shot in San Jose last month, the six-minute piece shows a Jason-style killer obsessing over a beautiful blonde and hacking to pieces anyone who stands in his way.

Upon viewing this short, it may come as no surprise that Reda’s background is in comedy, touring with his acclaimed sketch troupe Click This!, before gaining a cult following with his ultra low budget thriller Bit Parts. Tongue-in-cheek and set to the tune of Horror of Our Love by St. Louis-based group Ludo (from their 2008 record You’re Awful, I Love You), Elftwin intend on taking the short around various independent festivals throughout the year.

As is common with low budget productions, many of the crew also appear in front of the camera, with Reda portraying the Monster, set designer Kate Melia playing the heroine and the special effects team in cameos as the hapless victims. An enjoyable spin on a tired old formula, Reda pokes fun at the genre whilst also celebrating its clichés. Whilst there are no details available at this time regarding when Horror of Our Love: A Short Film will be available for fans to view, we will keep you informed as the news rolls in.
