Whilst it is not commercially available as yet, work has finally finished on the graphic novel adaptation of The Revenge of the Living Dead, a story originally penned by star Don Calfa (who portrayed eccentric morticiam Ernie Kaltenbrunner) and friend Roger Carney back in 1985 when the first movie was released.

Utilizing the ‘what if?’ scenario, the nuclear blast that had brought the film to an end is revealed to have missed its target, causing Ernie and his fellow survivors (including Spider, Chuck, Casey and Tina) to not only escape the clutches of the zombified Freddy and a horde of living dead, but also the trigger happy military.

Despite producers politely declining Calfa’s story, various elements would later appear in Return of the Living Dead Part II in 1988. But this is the sequel fans have been dying to see, and artist Gary Smart has sent us a selection of new images from the final draft. Sadly, however, there is no release date in sight, so you’re just going to have to take our word for it when we say that this is guaranteed to please fans of the original movie.
